STYLE IS A GIVEN HERE

DESIGNING COUNTER FLOAT

We do not hide the fact that we are using plywood.
20 ply, 1" in thickness. Structurally sound.

In fact, we are embracing this material! Angled cuts allow us to expose these sexy edges, as well as to integrate three handles seamlessly.

Large, strong felt pads on the bottom will let you move appliances up to 60 lbs with ease, while additional felt on the backside will protect your Counter Float™ when "parking" it against a wall or tiles.

One and two handed
operation

Supports appliances
up to 60 lbs

Avoid steam damage
to your cabinets

100% handcrafted

COUNTER FLOAT FROM START TO FINISH

  • "Home"
  • Sourcing and Cutting
  • Routing and Sanding
  • The Finish

WE START WITH 20 PLY.

We use 1" thick, 20 ply plywood. It is the best choice when it comes to structural integrity for our product - it will not bend or warp.

We then cut all our pieces right here in Greenville, SC.

THEN WE ROUTE. AND WE SAND.

We round off the edges and then carve out the handles in 3 stages, gradually lowering the router bit to avoid burn marks.

Then we sand. And we sand some more. Going all the way from 180 to 320 grid.

WE FINISH WITH THE FINISH.

We tested numerous products and at least as many ways to apply them. But eventually we settled on a blend of natural oils and waxes made in Germany (of all places, right?).

36 hours and three coats later each Counter Float™ is ready for the final inspection.

MEET DENNIS

The lord of the boards.

Dennis is born and raised in Bavaria, where being grumpy is more than just a lifestyle: it's a requirement. He is self taught and never quits until he succeeds.

He has been told by many southerners, that - as a father to three girls - he will be allowed to bypass the line to heaven. But he is no fan of shortcuts, so doing right by people is one of his core values.

Dennis creates every Counter Float himself. And he is darn proud of every single one of them. He also built this website and loves photo and video work.
